Postdoctoral researcher in psychology with a focus on functional brain imaging of consciousness

We are announcing a position as a postdoctoral researcher located at the Department of Psychology. The employment is full-time for two years. 


Project description

The purpose of the current project is to investigate how the brain creates conscious experiences, by manipulating both conscious/unconscious perception and attention combined with functional brain imaging (fMRI). Data is collected at Umeå Center for Functional Brain Imaging . UFBI is an interdisciplinary research center where techniques for functional and structural brain imaging are used to address several basic science and clinical research questions. Tasks will include empirical data collection, data analysis, and authoring of scientific papers. Some teaching may occur. You are expected to carry out the majority of your work at the Department of Psychology, Umeå University.


Eligibility 

A doctoral degree that is awarded no more than three years before the end of the application period (unless special reasons exist such as parental leave, military service, sick leave, etc.). 


Assessment criteria 
  • A doctoral degree in psychology or equivalent doctoral degree relevant to the project. 
  • The position requires good knowledge of English in both speech and writing. 
  • Applicants should have good knowledge in cognitive neuroscience, experimental methodology, quantitative method, and statistical analysis. 
  • Particularly meritorious is documented competence and experience in functional brain imaging, preferably fMRI. 
  • Meritorious is documented ability to work in a team and ability to work independently, as well as knowledge in Swedish. 

We are looking for a committed, responsible, and creative person with high motivation for research. Emphasis is put on the applicant’s suitability for the current project.
