Postdoctoral Researcher in psychology with a focus on individual differences

In our research group, you will find a unique opportunity to work in the borderland between psychology and neuroscience in order to understand how cognitive and behavioral sex differences arise and are affected by our surrounding environment. Your mission

You will work in a project funded by the Swedish Research Council where we describe, explain and investigate the effects of gender differences in cognition and behavior on real life outcomes. We address questions relating to the importance of sex chromosomes and fetal androgen exposure in sex differences, and whether it is possible to identify patterns of cognitive skills and behaviors that constitute meaningful sex-typical profiles, as well as whether such sex-typical profiles provide an understanding of why there are such large gender differences in career choices. We collect new data but also use Swedish register data. The work includes, in addition to usual research work, managing a web-based large data collection, acquiring (Swedish) register data, programming, and statistically analyzing complex relationships. The position may also include participation in teaching and supervision of bachelor and master students.

This is a full-time position for two years, with the possibility of extension


Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with a background in psychology, sociology, public health, epidemiology, or similar, with an interest in methodology and statistics, as well as behavioral data and individual differences. Applicants are expected to have very good statistical analysis skills and previous experience with digital data collection and Swedish register research. It is an advantage to have programming skills in relevant programming languages ​​(eg R, Python, HTML, JavaScript).

Very good knowledge of English is required. Good knowledge of Swedish is meritorious. You must have experience in academic writing and publishing. We are looking for a person who shows initiative, pays attention to details, and has the ability to work independently. We also attach great importance to personal suitability.
