The division of translational neuropharmacology focuses on two areas of research- Parkinson’s disease (PD) and depression in both preclinical models and patients. We employ biochemical, histological, pharmacological, behavioral and molecular techniques to investigate changes at the behavioral, cellular and molecular levels in patient samples, in animal and cell based models of the aforementioned diseases. We put a special emphasis on the non-motor symptoms of PD with an aim to identify biomarkers reflecting early stages of PD as the motor symptoms are often preceded by the non- motor symptoms.
Over the course of the Postdoctoral appointment, the candidate will be responsible for designing and carrying out studies which would help in better understanding the influence of environmental stressor on the disease symptoms in genetic model of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and depression. The candidate will be responsible for establishing various stress models in the laboratory, behavioral profiling in various domains of olfaction, emotionality, cognition, sociability, motor and for some biochemical analysis (ELISA) on the biological samples from rodent models of PD and depression. Candidate is expected to be a strong team player and show independency in his/her work. The candidate will be encouraged to serve as mentors for bachelors and master students.
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances.
Applicants should have completed a Ph.D in the field of neuroscience. The candidate should have a strong background in behavioural neuroscience and knowledge of stress biology. A thorough experience with various stress models in rodents as well with a wide variety of behavioural tests is a prerequisite. Experience with brain processing and some biochemical analysis such as ELISA is also required. In addition, it is favorable if the candidate has experience with immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, pharmacology and/or microscopy. The candidate should be proficient in written and oral English language.
