Postdoctor in single-cell multiomics to Karolinska Institutet

Updated: about 2 months ago

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Join us at the department of Oncology-Pathology , Karolinska Institutet. The research group led by Martin Enge is specialized in methodology-driven analysis of patient data, especially in the field of single-cell multiomics. We combine cutting-edge method development with strong ties to the clinic, and aim to directly influence future clinical practice.

Your mission

The project combines basic research with method development and will be centered around creating a unified diagnostic method based on joint genomic/mRNA sequencing and physical cell interaction (see: Zachariadis et al. Mol. Cell 2020, Andrews et al. Nat. Methods 2021, Enge et al. Cell 2017), and to use this method to better understand cancer evolution and how subclones persist treatment and cause relapse. It is a strictly data driven approach, and your main role will be to develop the computational methods involved. The project involves working closely with clinical collaborators, and directly contribute to improving future precision medicine.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

Qualifications:

  • We seek a highly motivated researcher with competence in computational biology.
  • The candidate should have a collaborative approach to research, and be capable of spearheading this highly collaborative project.
  • The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in computer science/computational biology.

Merits:

  • Specific experience in analyzing sequence-level data on single cell level, R/Bioconductor and Python/Tensorflow will be useful but is not a requirement.
