Updated: 4 days ago
Deadline: 06 Sep 2024

We have the power of over 40,000 students and co-workers. Students who provide hope for the future. Co-workers who contribute to Linköping University meeting the challenges of the day. Our fundamental values rest on credibility, trust and security. By having the courage to think freely and innovate, our actions together, large and small, contribute to a better world. We look forward to receiving your application!

Work assignments

The research focuses on federated and decentralized communication-efficient machine learning over networks, with applications in wireless networks and 6G.

As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.

Qualifications

To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree.  This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.

We are looking for candidates with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a strong background in mathematics and analysis of algorithms relevant for the research, as documented by relevant publications. More specifically, the candidate is required to have a solid background in mathematical analysis of optimization and machine learning algorithms, especially algorithms for federated and distributed optimization.

As the university operates in an international environment, you need to have good communication skills and be proficient in English, both orally and in writing.

The workplace

You will work at the Division of Communication Systems  at the Department of Electrical Engineering . The Division of Communication Systems conducts research and education in communications engineering, statistical signal processing, network science, and distributed AI and machine learning.

A principal focus of our research is the development of technology components for 6G wireless networks. Specific topics include the design and optimization of distributed and massive MIMO for high-capacity coverage and low-latency wireless access; methods to support energy-neutral (passive) devices and augmented, virtual and extended reality over wireless; design of wireless networks to support distributed AI and machine learning applications; and implementation of signal processing systems.

Security, robustness and energy-efficiency of communication links and networks are additional topics of importance.

Our work uses tools from statistical signal processing, information and communication theory, machine learning, complex networks, and optimization.

The employment

This employment is a temporary contract of two years with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years.  The employment is full-time. Starting date by agreement.
