SciLifeLab (https://www.scilifelab.se ) is a national research infrastructure (RI) for molecular life sciences, assigned by the Swedish government to provide cutting-edge technology and expertise to Swedish researchers. SciLifeLab’s vision is to enable groundbreaking, interdisciplinary research that would otherwise not be possible to conduct in Sweden, and to promote research with a societal impact.
To further increase the visibility and strengthen SciLifeLab as a resource a national level, its board decided in 2021 to establish sites at four universities outside the host universities in Mälardalen, one of which is located in Lund. SciLifeLab Lund currently consists of eight cutting-edge RIs, focusing on genomics, proteomics, imaging, structural biology, drug development and bioinformatics. The site is led by a Director and functions as a coordinating umbrella unit, through which the included RIs can interact with leading RIs and other key stakeholders across the country.
SciLifeLab Lund is now looking for a driven, knowledgeable and outgoing data science coordinator who wants to work in a key role to promote the further advancement of SciLifeLab.

Your primary responsibility will be to support the cutting-edge research infrastructures at SciLifeLab Lund in the broad and increasingly important area of research data management (RDM). You will be a consultant and trainer for associated infrastructures to further improve, streamline and harmonize current RDM practices. You will collaborate with research infrastructure experts and managers to understand the overall RDM and associated IT needs, and together with the SciLifeLab Lund Director and management group outline a strategy to address these. A particular focus will be to identify synergies with the SciLifeLab Data Centre and to and to harmonize RDM solutions between the Data Center and local as well as national stakeholders. You will be the go-to-person for RDM questions and responsible for introducing and fully implementing best-practise routines in the day-to-day service activities at SciLifeLab Lund. Because the position is new, it may be partly defined in dialogue the Director and SciLifeLab Data Centre management. 

Requirements for the position are:

•  A University degree in a relevant area, e.g. data sciences,  computational biology, bioinformatics or other informatics related field (M.Sc. or equivalent).
• Experience of working with research data management, FAIR and Open Science.
• Knowledge about the academic research data lifecycle, preferably with hands-on experience on research data management platforms
• Strong scientific IT skills, including experience in working in a terminal-based Linux environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and cooperation skills, strong drive and ability to take initiative.

Meritorious for the position are:

• PhD from a relevant area, e.g. with a strong focus on informatics and/or data analysis.
• Experience of working with bioinformatics, including programming skills in at least one relevant scripting language (e.g. Python or R).
• Experience of working with RDM support, including basic understanding of data annotation, meta data management, data curation and/or work with community standards
• Knowledge about health data or other sensitive data management (e.g. GDPR), data access management, and clinical research
• Experience of version control systems, e.g. Git
• Experience of working within a research infrastructure
• Knowledge of IT security
• Experience in leading and coordinating projects, including planning, organisation and implementation of projects
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in Swedish

The employment is a permanent full time employment with the desired starting date February
1st 2024 or according to agreement. Probationary employment of 6 months may be applied.
