Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in Onur Dagliyan’s Group at the Division of Molecular Neurobiology . The lab is looking for computational biologists who are interested in the some of the following topics: computational protein design, biosensors development, single cell technologies, bioinformatics. The lab’s research focus is to uncover experience-driven protein signaling mechanisms in the mouse brain by developing new technologies. The group is building a new interdisciplinary research program as there is an immense potential for new fundamental insights to be discovered. Neuronal activity dependent molecular signaling processes are central for synaptic plasticity. These molecular events form the mechanistic basis of complex neural computation, learning and memory. The Dagliyan laboratory focuses on specific molecular events in neurons in the mouse brain happening at different time scales, starting from the immediate modifications at the synapse, to longer time scale molecular events including gene expression, which are key processes for the behaviorally induced plasticity of neuronal circuits. The Dagliyan Lab is funded by European Research Council (ERC), Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet), The Brain Foundation (Hjärnfonden), and others.

The Dagliyan lab is the newest member of the Unit of Molecular Neurobiology, composed of outstanding scientists applying interdisciplinary approaches to cutting-edge problems in a collaborative and stimulating environment. The unit is part of the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics residing in a new research building for Biomedical Research, Biomedicum, providing modern technological platforms and an open environment for interactions across departments and disciplines

Your mission

The candidate will be responsible for the development of new algorithms or implementation of the existing algorithms to conduct analyses. The candidate will be in close collaboration with the experimentalists in the lab and will have the chance to gain experience with the experimental methods as well. If the candidate has some experimental experience, that is a plus. We prefer postdoctoral fellow candidates who have completed PhD in the last two years, but we are open to other possibilities. You will also have a chance to collaborate with the scientists who are pioneers in their fields.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

The applicant shall hold a PhD degree in one of the biological science or engineering fields, preferentially awarded in the 2-3 years. The candidates with previous python programming, protein physics or bioinformatics experience will be prioritized. The applicant needs to have a high degree of independence and motivation but should have no problems to work in a team given the collaborative nature of the project. Fluency in English is a requirement.
