The role 

The desired candidate will provide as a service patient derived organoid (PDOs), mouse and human pluripotent 2D (monolayer) and 3D (organoids) stem cell differentiation procedures already established in the Unit and will execute CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing services. The candidate will set up specific 2D/3D differentiation and gene editing procedures upon user request for specific projects. 

The candidate should be highly motivated, decisive, methodological, with accurate work habits and be a good team member. The ideal candidate has a strong ability to multi-task and has a service-oriented mentality. The position involves working some weekends and holiday days during the year. 

The Unit 


The Tissue Engineering Facility is a scientific-technological Core Facility within the Core Facilities Program. The goal of the Tissue Engineering Unit is to provide CRG, PRBB and external researchers with the latest technologies used in the fields of stem cell biology, stem cell differentiation, organoid formation, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing. It was created 8 years ago with the aim of helping the research community in performing Stem Cell and Organoids projects to increase the impact of Stem Cell and Organoid projects and applications. The Unit is constantly setting up new technologies that are emerging in the above fields. 

Whom would we like to hire?  

Professional experience  

Must Have


  • You have at least 3 years' experience in stem cell biology and ES/iPS cell differentiation systems 


  • You have at least 1 year experience in CRISPR/CAS9 or related gene editing system 


  • You have experience in working in a Core Facility or Industry/Biotech/R&D Facility 


  • If you have experience in troubleshooting cell differentiation processes and assays you will be considered


  • If you have experience in PDOs it  will be considered 


  • If you have you have experience in delivering projects to agreed schedules, budgets and quality standards you will be considered


Education and training


  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field 


  • If you hold a Master/PhD Degree it will be considered as a plus 


Languages

Technical skills required 


  • You have a strong Tissue Culture experience for human and mouse ES/iPS cells and PDOs. 


  • You have a strong experience in ES cell differentiation 


  • You have experience in cell lines gene editing 


  • You have experience with immunofluorescence, confocal and FACS analysis for cellular characterizations 


Competences  


  • You have highly developed organization skills 


  • You are capable of working in a group 


  • You have a high degree of work autonomy 


  • You have multitasking skills 


The Offer – Working Conditions 


  • Contract duration: Technical and scientific activities contract – estimated 1 year with possibility of extension


  • Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales 


  • Target start date: October 2024
