IRTA is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with a PhD related to chemistry, toxicology, or equivalent to join the Marine and Continental Waters Program. We invite applications from ambitious candidates with relevant research experience and passion to conduct research and innovation activities for the ChemRiskWIse project, focused on the study of monitoring and surveillance data for future chemical risk assessment and specifically their link with European Food Safety Agency (EFSA). The aim of the project is to identify and prioritize EFSA’s data needs for advancing Human Health Risk Assessment (HHRA), Animal Health Risk Assessment (AHRA) and Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA), to identify and map relevant data sources, and to provide recommendations for data access and data generation.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Identification of data gaps for contaminants, with particular focus on monitoring and surveillance data.
- Identification and prioritization EFSA’s needs in terms of monitoring and surveillance data for chemical risk assessment.
- Identification of all possible data sources that would address the priority needs identified in the data needs.
- Contribution to the identification of opportunities for data retrieval, harmonization and sharing, and propose modification to the existing data generation pipelines.
- Collaboration with the other members of the research group within the field of monitoring and surveillance data for future chemical risk assessment needs in EFSA.
-Boosting relationships and communication with collaborators and stakeholders to identify opportunities and meet their requirements.

Required qualifications and experience:
- PhD in chemistry, toxicology or equivalent.
- Post-doctoral experience in the research field of chemical risk assessment, food safety or equivalent.
- Experience in chemicals, with demonstrable knowledge on monitoring and surveillance data.
- Experience in writing project deliverables.
- Proven experience in statistics and modelling to study risk assessment.
- Dissemination skills: solid presentation/communication skills, scientific (peer-reviewed journals) and technical writing skills.
- Full driving license for Europe and travel availability.

Desirable requirements:
- Knowledge of the One Health concept to assess and examine the potential risk of the presence of chemicals in different matrices.
- High publication record.
- Participation in funded projects.
