Offer Description
We're actively seeking an enthusiastic and innovative young scientist or interdisciplinary expert in systems biology, neurochemistry, and omics technologies (GC-MS, LC) to join the +Pec Proteomics Research Group. This group, led by Dr. Xavier Gallart-Palau and Dr. Aida Serra at the Biomedical Research Institute of Lleida (Spain), is a multi-disciplinary team. As a postdoctoral researcher, you'll take the lead in a research line focused on metabolomics study, aiming to uncover potential biomarkers of aging-related dementias and decode new molecular insights into the fundamental neuropathological features of these diseases, utilizing cutting-edge gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry technology.
About us:
+PPRG is dedicated to leveraging next-generation clinical proteomics, mass spectrometry, and Systems Biology to uncover altered intercellular communication mechanisms linked to neuropathology and systemic pathologies. Our young research group is particularly focused on advancing understanding of the molecular underpinnings of neurodegeneration and dementia-associated neuropathology.
In a similar vein, we prioritize translational research, with an emphasis on exploring the potential of extracellular vesicles (EVs) as fundamental components of intricate intercellular communication networks. We aim to elucidate their roles in developing diagnostic, stratification, and prognostic markers, as well as their potential as highly biocompatible nanovectors for advanced therapeutic applications in personalized medicine.

Role Overview:
We're in search of a driven postdoctoral researcher to spearhead the development of innovative GC-MS methods tailored for the analysis of clinical samples. Within this role, you'll be tasked with method design, experiment execution, data analysis, and close collaboration with our interdisciplinary team. This position presents an exceptional opportunity to broaden your skill set, enhance your research portfolio in systems biology, and make substantive contributions to the field with broad-ranging implications.
Responsibilities include:
- Conceptualizing novel analytical strategies and their application in biological or biomedical contexts.
- Sharing responsibility for the successful completion and timely delivery of project milestones.
- Collaborating with the team to translate technical and biological insights into compelling grant proposals.
- Cultivating new partnerships with internal and external interdisciplinary research teams.
- Presenting progress updates in meetings, publishing scientific papers, and engaging in international conferences.
Profile:
• MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: PhD in life sciences (bioengineering, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, bioinformatics, or equivalent), with a proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals (minimum 2 publications as first or corresponding author in first quartile JCR journals, or 1 publication in first decile JCR journal).
• Proficiency in analytical techniques.
• Proficiency in classical molecular biology techniques.
• Experience designing high-throughput and/or complex experimental workflows.
• Skilled in troubleshooting.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Genuine passion and dedication for advancing scientific knowledge and fostering innovation.
• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills to effectively collaborate across interdisciplinary teams.
Offer:
We offer full-time employment within a dynamic international work setting, complete with cutting-edge facilities. Initially, we offer a one-year postdoctoral position, with the potential for extension through the application of public postdoctoral fellowships. Your location will be Lleida, just an hour away from Barcelona via high-speed train. Our environment is deeply interdisciplinary and multicultural, committed to achieving international excellence.
