Offer Description

ICFO is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will be joining the Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials group led by Prof. Dr. Gerasimos Konstantatos which is looking for outstanding, creative and highly motivated researchers to develop highly performant, CMOS compatible, thermal sensor and microbolometer technology. The project aims to revolutionize thermal imaging technologies for automotive, safety and surveillance by developing a new microbolometer technology.

Skills/Qualifications

Candidates must hold, at the time of contract initiation, an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in Physics or Electrical Engineering, prior to taking up the position.

The candidates should have demonstrated experience and hands-on expertise on the fabrication, characterization and modelling of thermal detectors, ideally microbolometers. In particular, we are looking for candidates with experience in thermal, thermoelectric and electronic simulations and modelling through TCAD software applied to microbolometers as well as cleanroom microfabrication experience of related structures. Successful candidates will also be proficient in optoelectronic characterization of thermal sensors including electronic transport, responsivity, noise, response speed etc. Know-how on read-out electronic circuitry schemes for bolometers will be positively evaluated. Experience on design, optical modelling and fabrication of photonic structures in the LWIR for thermal sensing will be considered a plus.
