We are pleased to offer a postdoc position in Statistics at the Data Science Center of the Barcelona School of Economics , starting around Sep 2024 (there is some flexibility in the start date). The research themes are fairly flexible, and include developing joint models for high-dimensional data integration, latent variable models, computational methods, asymptotic analysis, and applications to relevant problems in the Social sciences and Economics. The gross yearly salary is 42,000 EUR. The primary location is at the BSE Data Science Center in Barcelona. The minimum term is 22 months, with the possibility of a small extension for interested candidates.

The primary supervisors are David Rossell  and Stephen Hansen , although collaborations with other group members at the BSE UPF Statistics & Probability group  and at UCL are possible.

The primary location is at the BSE Data Science Center in Barcelona.  The minimum term is 22 months, with the possibility of a small extension for interested candidates. The BSE Data Science Center (https://datascience.bse.eu ) integrates faculty and postdocs from various fields, and in particular those from the Statistics and Probability group (https://sites.google.com/view/stats-upf ) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, consistently ranked among the top European economics schools. The group has a strong expertise in research areas such as theoretical machine learning, graphical and network models, Bayesian inference, Malliavin calculus, high-dimensional inference and Econometrics, among others. Said research has been funded by research agencies in Spain, the UK and USA, as well as companies such as Google, Santander bank, BBVA and Huawei. The BSE is a dynamic research environment, and also hosts a master’s program in Data Science (https://bse.eu/study/masters-programs/data-science-methodology ) and other educational activities. The BSE has won 3 consecutive Severo Ochoa awards for research excellence, and provides additional opportunities for funding and research-related activities.
