Offer Description
The Basque Center for Applied Mathematics - BCAM, is looking for a Research Technician position in Alternative Numerical Techniques for Computational Fluid Dynamics in the Mathematical Design, Modelling and Simulations (MATHDES) group.
The candidate will work under the supervision of researcher Vincenzo Nava on Computational Fluid Dynamics, Reduced Order Methods, Surrogate Models, Finite Elements and Finite Volumes.
We are searching for a promising pre-doctoral researcher who is eager to kickstart their career as a researcher.
The initial duration of the contract will be 1 year with ample possibilities of renewal for another year, if the evaluation is positive. We hope to incorporate the research technician into the BCAM PhD programme at a later stage, subject to satisfactory performance.

Skills/Qualifications
Although the requirements can be adapted to the different candidate profiles, a strong candidate needs to possess the following skills:
- Good interpersonal skills.
- A proven track record in quality research, as evidenced by research publications in top scientific journals and conferences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
- Ability to present and publish research outcomes in spoken (talks) and written (papers) form.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present research ideas to researchers and stakeholders with different backgrounds.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Fluency in spoken and written Spanish
Specific Requirements
- Promising young researchers
- Applicants must have their Bachelor’s or Master degree preferable in Physics, Mathematics, Civil/Mechanical/industrial Engineering, or related fields
- Possess of PhD in the fields will be positively considered in the evaluation.
- Background in Computational Fluid Dynamics
- Background in Finite Element and Finite Volume methods.
- Background in Reduced Order Models (ROMs) and surrogated models.
- Good programming skills (bash, C++, Python …)
- Knowledge of Linux OS.
- Interest and disposition to work in interdisciplinary groups.
- Experience of using OpenFOAM.

Benefits
The gross annual salary of the Fellowship will be 19.764€-29.994€ It will then be on your own responsibility to make your yearly income declaration at the Bizkaia Treasury Agency. Additionally, we offer a moving allowance up to 1.000€. Should the researcher have a family at the time of recruitment: Free access to the Public Health System in Spain is provided to all employees.
