Who are we looking for?

CTTC is searching for interested candidates in a R4-Director of Research permanent position to work with any of its research areas https://www.cttc.cat/research-units/ to initiate a new research line with vision for the future and that complements them well. Mainly we are looking for skills in cybersecurity and trustworthy learning systems; alternatively, experience in explainable AI , Generative AI, Representation Learning or Large Language Models is also welcome. However, even if you do not meet this requirement you are encouraged to apply (see the Qualifications and Experience section).

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, energetic person, aiming at significantly improving his or her career perspectives in both public and private sectors. The successful applicant should have the competences of the R4 category (https://www.cttc.cat/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Update-professional-cat… ).

Required qualification/skills/experience:

• Publications with a high number of citations or impact.
• Proven expertise in cybersecurity and trustworthy learning systems; alternatively, experience in explainable AI, Generative AI, Representation Learning or Large Language Models is also welcome.
• List of relevant contributions in IPR, especially royalty contracts
• Proven experience in promoting, managing and scientifically leading attractive R&D projects for other researchers of similar reputation.
• Carrying out scientific-technical work at a personal level (eg, software programming, laboratory work, etc,...)
• Proven ability based on its scientific-technical reputation to secure long-term funding for research projects.
• Extensive list of persons trained under his/her supervision or direction and, where applicable, their current professional relevance.
• Identifies the implications and applications of his/her scientific-technical activity with his participation in round tables or his participation in the preparation of "white papers".
• Excellence in communication skills and relationship with the research community, especially in the productive sector.
• It develops a strategic vision of the future and is a scientific reference in its subject.

Other skills that are valuable, but not mandatory, are:

• Substantial and innovative contribution in his field and implications in other fields of research firmly based on his list of publications and other scientific-technical contributions. (Index H, Patents, etc.).
• It has an international reputation based on excellence or relevance
• Beyond the formation of a solid research team and networked in international collaborations, a long-term vision must be evident,
• Ability to create an innovative and comfortable environment to attract other researchers of similar reputation to carry out short or medium-term stays in his/her work team.
• Active and committed person in the professional development of his colleagues.

Who are we?

• The Center Tecnològic de Telecomunicaciones de Catalunya (CTTC) is a non-profit public sector research institution dedicated to fundamental and applied research activities, focused mainly on technologies related to the physical, data link and network layers of communication systems and Geomatics.
• CTTC received the “HR Excellence in Research” award in 2015 from the European Commission and successfully passed into the Award Renewal phase in 2023.
