Job Description

 

The School of Continuing and Lifelong Education (SCALE) was established to drive the expansion of NUS’ lifelong learning offerings in a concerted and strategic way that furthers our mission to be a leading global university, as well as fulfil our role as a public university of Singapore, shaping the future.

 

Through SCALE, working adults (i.e. professionals, managers and executives) who aspire to stay relevant and ahead of competition, companies looking to up-skill/re-skill their workforce, and even youths exploring quality tertiary education options, have access to NUS’ suite of innovative, world-class continuing and lifelong education offerings.

 

Drawing on unparalleled access to the multi-disciplinary expertise of 16 other NUS Faculties/Schools, SCALE offers youth, executive and professional development/education programmes, part-time degree programmes, as well as modular courses that may be taken singly or stacked towards certificates/diplomas/degrees that meet the lifelong learning needs of individuals.  All programmes are designed and developed in consultation with the industry to ensure relevance and currency.

 

 

About the Role

 

To augment our manpower resources in the School, we are looking for a suitably qualified candidate to join us. 

 

Reporting to the Assistant Senior Manager, the incumbent would be instrumental in assisting in a range of administrative duties that would be needed to be executed in an efficient and effective manner to support the smooth functioning of the unit. 

 

This role is offered on a fixed-term, non-renewable contract to end on 30th September 2027, subject to a 6-month probation period.

 

Remuneration is based on a 12-month salary structure, with an annual variable bonus which is subject to the incumbent’s performance and the University/School’s prevailing remuneration policies.

 

The incumbent will be emplaced at an appropriate appointment grade based on his/her individual merits.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 


•    Conduct comprehensive career assessments for SCTP candidates to identify their strengths, weaknesses, interests, and values, aiding them in determining their ideal career paths.

•    Utilize career development theories and assessment tools to provide personalized education, career, and training guidance for SCTP candidates through one-on-one consultations and group facilitation sessions.

•    Offer specialized support to mature job seekers aiming for midcareer transitions, including career switching, conversion, expansion, or pursuing career passions, guiding them through the decision-making and transition processes.

•    Assist SCTP candidates in creating or refining their resumes and cover letters, ensuring these documents effectively highlight their skills, qualifications, and achievements.

•    Provide interview preparation support, including coaching and practice sessions, to enhance SCTP candidates' interviewing skills, focusing on common questions, personal storytelling, and presentation techniques.

•    Develop and share strategic job placement advice, covering aspects like utilizing online job boards, networking strategies, and effective use of social media for job search purposes.

•    Actively market SCTP candidates to potential employers, showcasing their skills, capabilities, and potential contributions during job interviews and networking opportunities.

•    Guide SCTP candidates in establishing and enhancing their personal brand online, with a focus on professional networking platforms like LinkedIn, to increase their visibility and appeal to prospective employers.


Requirements:


Academic & Professional Certification
•    A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a reputable university
•    IT savvy and proficient in MS Office applications

 

Experience & Attributes 
•    Preferably 2-3 years of related working experience; fresh university graduates may be considered as well
•    Good verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills with a positive work attitude
•    Excellent coordination and organisation skills, with a customer-centric mindset
•    Strong team player who is meticulous, resourceful, resilient and thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented and ambiguous work environment
•    Experience in working in an education setting will be an added advantage
