Senior Assistant Manager, Strategic Projects

The Senior Assistant Manager (Strategic Projects) will play a key role in supporting the Senior Management in developing the school’s mid and long-term strategic priorities and transformation plans that will support the school’s core objective in transforming and building a leading mechanical and aerospace engineering school in the world.

Champion, lead and support the development of strategic initiatives and school projects

  • Analyze strategic risks, opportunities, problems, gathering intelligence, discovering insights, delivering recommendations, and creating cross-functional projects

  • Monitor and analyze industry and research trends, findings as well as research outcomes, to derive relevant and actionable insights on trends, technologies, platforms

  • Translate insights into potential projects, proposals, white papers and roadmaps across the school’s units so as to build alignment between units’ operations and the school’s strategic priorities and goals

  • Drive impactful school wide projects and initiatives across units to support the realization of the school’s mid- to long-term strategic priorities

  • Collaborate with Associate Chairs, Assistant Chairs and unit managers in the strategy, planning and execution of projects

  • Plan and coordinate meeting and events related to the development of the initiatives

  • Help develop new partnerships and maintain existing relationships for the school

  • Support the Assistant Chair (I&E) and Assistant Chair (International Engagement) in implementing the school’s I&E projects

  • Manage diversity projects such as Women in Stem initiative and WoMAEn platform

  • Undertake special projects assigned by Senior Management, as well as secretariat duties for strategy meetings

Strategic Faculty Recruitment

  • Drive the school’s faculty recruitment efforts, working closely with the management to plan and strategize hiring needs and hiring strategies

  • Utilize technology to headhunt potential faculty, recommending suitable candidates for School Search Committee’s (SSC) consideration

  • Analyze and profile potential faculty applicants, providing recommendations for SSC’s consideration

  • Collate and analyze shortlisted faculty recruitment data, assisting the SSC Chair and School Chair in drafting necessary reports

  • Work with external agencies to strategize and advise on recruitment plans to better target potential faculty

Other duties

  • Draft reports, newsletters, speeches and presentation slides while ensuring a professional and positive image for the school

Requirements:

  • Good degree from a recognized university. Masters degree from a recognized university will be an added advantage.

  • Strong interest in technology and good knowledge of the research landscape as well as understanding of industry needs

  • Strategic programmes development and planning experience

  • At least 3-5 years in an IHL setting

  • Events planning and execution experience will be advantageous

  • Good in storytelling and development of creative presentations to sell ideas/concepts

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent command of English with excellent writing skills

  • Team player, highly motivated to build relationships with cross-department members, stakeholders and others in the organization who have impact in the projects

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as a team member with minimal direction

  • Able to work in ambiguous situations with a positive attitude
