Job Description

 

Our team is seeking highly talented and motivated candidates to join us in improving rainfall nowcasting in Singapore. This position will be based in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of the College of Engineering and Design at the National University of Singapore. The primary responsibility will involve developing physics-guided deep generative models to enhance forecasts of extreme rainfall, particularly related to convection, in urban environments.

 

•    Development of deep generative machine learning models to improve radar-based rainfall nowcasting in Singapore.
•    Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

 

 


Job Requirements

 

•    Possess a recognised PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering, environmental sciences, climate science, atmospheric science, geography, or other related disciplines.


Work Experience:
-Preferably having relevant research/industry experience with competent knowledge in some of the following areas: civil and environmental engineering, climate science, atmospheric science, GIS, geography, etc.
- Prior experience/knowledge of the following models, software/programming languages will be preferred:
- Machine learning
- Rainfall nowcasting/forecasting
- Data analysis tools such as MATLAB
- Programming languages such as python, C++ and/or FORTRAN
- High-performance computing


Other Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in written and spoken communication skills and able to present results.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
-  Resourcefulness and self-motivation, coupled with a strong sense of professional integrity.
