Job Description

 

The position is for a Research Fellow with a background in environmental science and engineering or chemistry (electrochemistry preferred) for a project to be carried out jointly at NUS Engineering and Environmental Research Institute (NERI). The project is entitled “Engineering innovations to support urban food farming” and is targeted at technology development for practical application at a demo site.

 

Electrochemical systems will be developed within this project to cover two distinct aspects:

- Electrochemical water treatment and disinfection to provide clean and safe water for food farming

- Electrochemical and biological production of nutrients for the plants

 

The project is for two years (starting Feb 2021) and comprises an academic component (supervision of students, writing of research papers) and an applied side: this project is supported by the local Industry and there is an opportunity for the selected candidate to test-bed the technology in a real setting and collaborate with a NUS startup (including a possibility of 6-month industrial attachment).


Qualifications

 

  • A PhD experience in environmental science and engineering or chemistry (electrochemistry preferred)

  • Capable to design and operate electrochemical cells
