Job Description

The research is on transforming food waste into digestates containing active biomolecules to enhance vegetable growth. Utilizing anaerobic digestion, we aim to recover essential nutrients such as N, P and K from food waste and integrate them into waste-derived hydrogel/biochar for optimal vegetable cultivation, thereby closing the waste loop in farming practices.

The specific aims are:

  • To release nutrients from food waste through anaerobic digestion and optimize the co-digestion process with waste-derived hydrogels.
  • To recover nutrients from the digestate to produce a novel biofertilizer.
  • To develop a prototype of an integrated food waste nutrient recovery system for pilot-scale testing.

  • Qualifications

    • Possess a PhD degree in bioscience, chemical/ biological/ environmental engineering, or other related fields.
    • Prepare reports and presentations regularly.
    • Publications in the relevant work.
    • Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
