A Research Associate position is available in the Rolls-Royce@NTU Corporate Laboratory, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Job Description:

  • Perform simulations with appropriate details

  • Create technical documentations for design and concepts

  • Communicate effectively on the work progress and highlight the issues/risks to the manager

  • Collaborate with team members to work effectively and solve day to day issues

  • Responsible for on-time delivery of the milestones

  • Build hardware and perform experiments to troubleshoot

  • Support in project purchases, creating posters and presentations

  • Responsible for equipment in the lab and their usage

  • Responsibly follow the lab rules, use proper PPE, follow safety guidelines and maintain 5S

  • Review technical work of the PhD students

  • Guide interns and FYP students in mini projects

  • Develop controller algorithms & system optimization concepts for microgrid & marine power system application

  • To work with team on real-time implementation & laboratory demonstration of algorithms

  • Develop power system modelling & simulation models including discrete electrical component modelling, energy management and operation optimization

  • Familiar with modern power systems such as microgrids, marine power systems, fuel cells, renewable energy and energy storage technology is encouraged.

  • Establish Electrical System Integration Capabilities.

  • Lead Power System Modelling and Simulation activities encompassing electric power systems, distributed generation, fuel cells, marine power systems DERs, energy storage systems, and microgrids.

  • Maintain a good understanding of industrial standards (aerospace & marine) of electrical system

Job Requirements:

  • Master degree in engineering, familiarity with electrical power generating equipment and control systems

  • Advanced knowledge of electric power systems, distributed generation, fuel cells, marine power systems DERs, energy storage systems, and microgrids

  • Knowledge of electrical distribution, transmission and power system controls, Energy Management System, and Controller Design a plus

  • Experience with lab experimentation and hardware is a plus

  • Proficiency in power system modeling and simulation e.g. Matlab/Simulink, OPAL-RT

  • Proficiency in programming skills e.g. C/C++, PLC, Python.

  • Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills

  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
