Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate full-time research assistant to support research under the NUS-Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) biodiversity research collaboration.

 

Hired candidate will be based on St John’s Island National Marine Laboratory.

 

The job scope includes:

  • Working on the science (systematics and ecology) of marine invertebrates.
  • Support the research:
  • Assist with outdoor field-work related to this project; as low tides are in the early morning/evening, candidate must be prepared to work at irregular hours.
  • Conduct literature review.
  • Specimen processing and molecular laboratory work.
  • Analyses of research data.
  • Preparation of academic manuscript and project-related reports.
    • Assist to supervise student interns and volunteers on the project. 
    • Plan and organise outreach and education events relating to this project. 
    • Assist with the organising and management of outreach events for this project and the Institute.
    • Assist with administrative duties and support colleagues with project needs as necessary.

     

    Candidate will also be involved in the engagement with public volunteers from our partners from RWS, international scientists, and helping to organise carrying seminars, workshops and expeditions.

     

    This is a 1-year contract. 


    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Biology, Zoology or equivalent. 

    Some experience in outdoor fieldwork and molecular laboratory work would be useful.

    Readiness to work irregular hours.

    Good in both spoken and written English.

    Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
