The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 19-month contract at the Office of Education Research, Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice.

Project Title: Parent Matters: Exploring Singaporean Parents' Engagement and Beliefs in Educational Assessments in the Context of Educational Assessment Reform

Project Introduction: This project aims to investigate how parents of Singaporean primary school students are involved in educational assessment activities and the factors that influence their involvement. The project will use a mixed methods approach, collecting data from both parents and teachers through interviews, focus group discussions and an online survey to gain a comprehensive understanding of parental involvement in educational assessment.

Requirements:

  • Possessing a good Bachelor's degree or above
  • Qualifications or work experience in social science or education would be preferred
  • Good communication, organisation, writing, proof-reading and research skills
  • Native or near-native proficiency in English
  • Proactive and able to work independently
  • Be a good team player

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison with participating schools
  • Support the Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigators (Co-PIs) in organising and conducting focus group discussions
  • Conduct coding, analysis and management of qualitative data
  • Assist the PI in the preparation of project deliverables and in the reporting and dissemination of research findings to stakeholders.
  • Other research and project management tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator (PI).
