Part-Time Lecturer (Communications and New Media)

 

The Department of Communications and New Media at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is excited to announce openings for Part-Time Lecturers to instruct in the following courses:

 

  • ACE5405 Culture Industries and The Law
  • NMC5341 Visualising Data
  • NMC5343 Introduction to Audience Analytics
  • And other courses under the undergraduate , and postgraduate programmes. 

Role of ACE5405 Cultural Industries and The Law

Part-time lecturer would be responsible for co-ordinating and teaching the ACE5405 Cultural Industries and the Law course, offered as part of the Master of Arts (Arts and Cultural Entrepreneurship) in the Department of Communications and New Media. 

 

The course provides a broad introduction to international legal frameworks governing and adjudicating arts and cultural practices and productions. The lecturer will cover principles and concepts governing rights and indemnities related to arts and culture. Issues covered in the course may include: copyright and intellectual property laws; international contract law; regulations framing arts and cultural practices; contract-writing and negotiations; legal due-diligence pertaining to arts and cultural resources; international business regulations pertaining to the capitalisation of arts and cultural resources, amongst others.


The course is offered in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 of the academic calendar, although some variation to this could be considered for the suitable candidate.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate should hold at least a Master Degree or higher in the relevant subject area. Candidates with practical experience and industry knowledge in related sectors will also be considered. Preference will be given to those with teaching or industry experience, which is viewed as advantageous.

 

Candidates applying to teach in postgraduate programmes (NMC-coded or ACE-coded) courses should hold a PhD degree. Additionally, candidates with practical experience and industry knowledge in related sectors will also be considered. Preference will be given to those with teaching or industry experience, as this is viewed as advantageous.


Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include conducting tutorials as a course tutor, providing student consultations, grading assessments, and fulfilling other course-related duties as required.
