This is via instilling and embedding a proactive risk culture within the university that is complemented by a comprehensive and robust risk management and governance framework. With a structured methodology and approach in anticipating, identifying and assessing and prioritizing, treating, monitoring and responding to the portfolio of risks across the organization.

 

This role will be part of the Governance & Risk Management (GRM) Unit to transform its risk agenda and establish a culture from being risk reactive to one that is more pro-active, pre-emptive and risk intelligent in addition to the recovery measures which are already in place. At ORMC, we oversee the strategic and operational risk areas of NUS and implement recommendations as appropriate.


Job Description
  • Support the implementation of Enterprise Risk Management Framework by actively engaging key stakeholders to effectively manage NUS operational risks.  
  • Conduct risk assessment workshops or risk deep dives with NUS risk units to identify, analyse, evaluate and document risk and treatment. 
  • Perform regular in-depth reviews of the NUS Risk Register to ensure risks are refreshed, adequately identified, appropriately assessed, and mitigation actions are timely implemented and documented for enterprise level reporting.
  • Involve in risk incident management process and work with risk units on risk incident investigation and closure, and the conduct of deep-dive risk assessment and read-across risk assessment if required.
  • Partner risk owners to periodically review key risk indicators (KRIs) and submission of KRI data for enterprise level reporting.    
  • Assist with development/presentation of reports and dashboards for NUS senior management, Risk Management Steering Committee, Executive Committee, the Board.  
  • Support the operationalization of the BCM framework at the university level.
  • Build risk management capability in Risk Units through proactive engagement and communication, management of resource and knowledge sharing platforms such as online portal, development and execution of training and awareness programmes such as online trainings, workshops, seminars, roadshows, forums, etc.
  • Involve in cross-IHLs collaboration efforts on risk management.
  • Lead, Co-lead or support in risk projects such as research papers on specific risk topics, University-wide implementation of Enterprise Risk Management system/tool, etc
  • Support other departmental projects such as Risk Forum, Phoenix, data analytics, etc.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree 
  • 4-5 years of hands-on Enterprise Risk Management experience with in-depth knowledge in the governance structure and end-to-end process. 
  • Acumen in sensing, measuring, managing, reporting and monitoring risks, as well as in identifying opportunities arising from risks, with experience using enterprise business intelligence tools, such as PowerBI, ERM tools and generative artificial intelligence tools.
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills with a desire to engage the Risk Management Community in ways that are more proactive than reactive.  
  • A practical mindset to contextualize information with the flexibility to zoom into and out from detail quickly, and a strong inclination to ensure analyses and recommendations are timely, pragmatic, fit-for-purpose and in-depth.
  • A fast learner with self-motivation who requires minimal supervision, demonstrates agility, sticks with timelines, and aspires to be ready to offer solutions and advice in the presence of a situation or challenge.  
  • Ability to appreciate a diverse, dynamic, and fast-paced environment of a multifaceted organization. 
  • An open mind for future exposure to additional work streams from within and outside of ORMC that will benefit a long-term career growth. 
  • Knowledge in effective pedagogy and software/tools for developing and implementing effective and impactful risk training and awareness programme will be an added advantage.
