Responsibilities
Provide scientific and technical support for undergraduate lab classes and research work.
Design and set up undergraduate teaching experiments; prepare, conduct and supervise laboratory lessons.
Provide comprehensive equipment operation and maintenance trainings; diagnose the root causes accurately and do troubleshooting efficiently; conduct preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns and repair cost; develop and update resources usage rules and policies to balance demands of stakeholders; handle a wide range of equipment such as Mass Spectrometers, Chromatography, Elemental Analyzer, TGA/DSC, Fluorescence Spectrometer, etc., ensure they are in good working conditions, troubleshoot equipment during instances of malfunction.
Ensure all aspects of laboratory lessons are ready before each semester; conduct maintenance, lab equipment testing and training of teaching assistants prior to lessons.
Review and improve laboratory experiments to enhance student’s learning experience.
Provide necessary set up of equipment and facilities for research usage.
Conduct strategic yearly budgeting and procurement of equipment maintenance, laboratory consumables and tools required.
Ensure good laboratory housekeeping and safe laboratory practices.
Assist Safety Officer in various administration matters including attending safety meetings, annual chemical audit, license renewal, maintaining safety documents records.
Coordinate monthly waste compilation from various central, teaching and research labs.
In charge of monthly school labs safety inspection.
Manage, coordinate and process receivables at goods receiving store.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the reporting officer and school management.
Requirements
Recognized Master degree with good relevant research experience or PhD degree in chemical and biotechnological engineering or science or related field.
Good knowledge and hands-on experience of handling chemical, biological or biomedical laboratory and scientific analytical instruments/equipment in an academic or an industrial environment
Minimum 3 years related working experience in a science or engineering environment
Experience providing technical support to students in higher education will be an added advantage
Familiar with setting up and using a wide range of laboratory equipment for research and teaching
Effective communication
High level of safety awareness
Ability to multi-task
Team player
Hard working, high availability, self-discipline, responsible, committed
Able to work independently and effectively under pressure
Self-motivated and proactive.
