Postdoctoral Position in ‘Wheat Comparative Genomics’

Updated: about 3 hours ago
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

We are looking for a creative, self-motivating, and enthusiastic early career scientist to join the Cereal Genetics and Genomics group (Prof. Simon Krattinger - https://cerealgenomics.kaust.edu.sa/ ) at KAUST. Our group combines innovative approaches in genomics and molecular biology to understand wheat genome biology and evolution. Our mission is to contribute to curiosity-driven research of high impact as well as to translate basic science into better crops.

Project
Bread wheat has become one of the most widely cultivated crop species globally. In addition to hexaploid bread wheat, multiple ‘minor’ wheat species of historic and regional importance are cultivated. This project focuses on the comparative genomics of several minor wheat species. The goal is to create a more comprehensive picture of wheat evolution, with a particular focus on polyploidization and chromosome structure. The results of this curiosity-driven research will inform wheat improvement by making untapped genetic diversity accessible to genomics-assisted breeding.

Offer
We offer a competitive, dynamic, international, and team-oriented scientific environment in a young research group at a young university. In particular, this position offers to work at the interface of genome biology and breeding. We offer a highly competitive salary, free housing and subsidized medical insurance.
