Offer Description

A call is open for the allocation of 1 (one) research fellowship, within the Research Project entitled “Occupational Health, Psychosocial Risks and Prevention Factors in LGBTQIA+ Populations in Portugal”, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia - FCT, taking place at the Department of Psychology and Education of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, under the following conditions:

Research Field: Psychology/Clinical and Health Psychology

Objectives – To assess levels of occupational health and discriminatory experiences, specific psychosocial risks, and preventive factors among LGBTQIA+ workers in Portugal. More specifically, this activity aims to compare levels of occupational health between more vulnerable groups within the LGBTQIA+ workers population, such as such younger and older LGBTQIA+ workers, immigrant LGBTQIA+ workers, and ethnic and/or racial minority LGBTQIA+ workers. In the end, we will be able to create a best practices manual in this field, contributing to the implementation of tailored training programs in companies and policymakers in Portugal that work with vulnerable populations.

Work plan: Phase one will focus on collecting data on participants’ demographics and measures related to their occupational health. This phase will be quantitative (questionnaires completed by participants), and qualitative (a semi-structured interview script). Phase two will include the writing and dissemination of the main findings of this research to give stakeholders, employers, policy makers and researchers a general scientific documentation regarding the implementation of necessary measures to promote and maintain occupational health of LGBTQIA+ Workers in Portugal. Data collection obtained from this project will also be published in national and international journals and presented in national and international conferences and scientific meetings, to contribute to the improvement of scientific knowledge in this field.

Fellowship duration and conditions – The fellowship is opened for 18 months, expected to start on February 1st , 2024. The activity is in regime of exclusive dedication in accordance with the RBIUBI .

Benefits

A monthly maintenance allowance will be granted in accordance with the Annex I of the RBIUBI, with the amount of 1 199,64€ according to the updated values that can be consulted at https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_2023.pdf . The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and can choose to be covered by the voluntary social insurance. These values will be added to the amount of monthly maintenance allowance.

Selection process

The evaluation of applications will focus on the candidate's Merit and an interview, applying the following evaluation criteria, valued on a scale of 1 to 5 values:

Merit of the candidate - MC (80%).

a) Academic path (which reflects the classifications of academic degrees), with a weighting of 30%;

b) Personal CV (which reflects the scientific and professional career, specifically in the area of work and research with sexual minorities, and publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals), with a weighting of 70%;

The candidate's merit classification (MC) will be obtained by applying the following formula: MC=(a×0.3)+(b×0.7)

Interview – INT (20%).

The Jury will carry out an interview in Portuguese and English for candidates classified in the first 4 positions, who obtain a minimum classification of 3.5 in the MC.

The candidate's final classification (FC) will be obtained by applying the following formula: FC=(MC×0.8) + (INT×0.2)

Complaint and Appeal Procedures: After communication of the provisional lists of the results in the different phases of the selection process (Admission and Exclusion, Curricular Evaluation and Interview), the candidates have 10 working days to pronounce their disagreement, under the terms of article 121 and the Código do Procedimento Administrativo. If any allegations are presented, the final decision will be issued after the analysis of the statements presented during the prior hearing of interested parties. After the statutory deadline of 10 working days, the proposal for the final classification and ranking of the candidates becomes definitive.

The proposal for the final ranking of the candidates will constitute a reserve list for selection for a period of 12 months.
