Offer Description

COFAC, Cooperativa de Formação e Animação Cultural crl/ Universidade Lusófona, is looking for a full-time teacher and researcher with a PhD, in accordance with applicable legislation, with a fixed-term employment contract, for FCESE – Faculty of Economic, Social and Business Sciences at its University Center in Porto.

Main activities

The work to be carried out will consist of:

a) Teach on Campus and, if necessary, online, in the areas of Economics;

b) Participate in academic activities at FCESE and University level;

c) Participate in professional and community outreach activities;

d) Provide academic and career advice to students;

e) Develop advanced and international research at INTREPID LAB, CETRAD's Research Center; 

f) Contribute to promoting the internationalization of FCESE;

g) Lead and cooperate in application processes for national and competitive financing international;

h) Collaborate in training activities in scientific research included in the scientific strategy of the FCESE.

Skills/Qualifications

Position to be filled and conditions for opening the vacancy :

a) The vacancy is intended to hire a teacher/researcher with a PhD, with a fixed-term employment contract.

b) Teachers/researchers with a PhD, whether national, foreign or stateless, may apply [1] .

Cumulatively, the ideal candidate must have the following academic profile :

a) PhD in Management, or in a closely related field, for more than 5 years (preferred). Demonstrate adequate work capacity for the activities to be carried out as part of a multidisciplinary team;

b) Oral and written command of the Portuguese language (A2, until the end of the 1st year, B1 until the end of the 2nd year) and the English language (B2);

c) Good pedagogical capacity demonstrated in the organization and teaching of degree and postgraduate courses;

d) Preferably, have participated in national and/or international R&D, extension and community connection activities related to the mentioned areas;

e) Be the author of relevant works published in international peer-reviewed journals (CORE A or A* for conferences, magazines and newspapers indexed to SciMago);

f) Preferably, have previous experience in coordinating research projects on the themes of the proposal.

a) Cover letter mentioning the motivations that justify the application;

b) Detailed curriculum vitae, mentioning academic training and professional experience, accompanied by a list of the most relevant scientific publications in the last 5 years with their respective doi;

c) Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate certificates;

d) Personal data and contact details - with their respective email addresses - of at least two leading academics who can attest to the CV presented;

e) Descriptive statement of career development, with emphasis on previous and future scientific and technological production;

f) Other documents considered relevant by the candidate and which, from his perspective, are relevant to attest and evaluate his scientific and professional career.

With the exception of the elements referred to in paragraph e), failure to comply with any of the requirements listed in the previous paragraph will result in the application being immediately rejected.

Selection process

Applications admitted to the competition will be evaluated taking into account the quality, timeliness and relevance of the academic and pedagogical curriculum, the scientific curriculum (scientific production and research experience appropriate to FCESE's strategic objectives and the creation of new knowledge related to the scientific communities of the FCESE and the candidates' professional CV, in addition to the level of suitability for the proposed work plan.

In the first stage of the selection process, the panel will evaluate the set of elements listed below, on a scale of 0 to 100:

a) The scientific career of the candidate, giving particular relevance to the scientific work carried out or published in the last 5 years in areas related to the work plan subject to the competition (up to 35% of the evaluation of this phase);

b) The candidate's professional experience, with special emphasis on the activities carried out in the last 5 years, carried out in areas related to the work plan subject to the competition (up to 55% of the evaluation of this phase);

c) Cover letter in English (10% of the assessment), to assess the candidate's motivation and interest in the activities to be developed (5% of the assessment) and proficiency in English (5% of the assessment);

d) If the jury chooses to carry out an interview with the candidates, which is intended exclusively to clarify aspects related to the results of their investigation (corresponding to a maximum of 10% of the total evaluation), they will be considered up to 5 candidates from among those who obtained the highest classification - in any case, only evaluations that obtain a score higher than 60% will be considered;

e) If necessary, the jury may request the testimony of the leading academics referred to in paragraph d) of paragraph 1 of article 6.
