1. Search Authorization
This search was authorized by the Rector of the University of Lisbon.
2. Place of Work
School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon, located in Alameda da Universidade, 1600‐214 Lisbon, Portugal.
3. General Requirements
3.1. Holding of a doctoral degree.
3.2. Holders of doctoral degrees granted by foreign universities should register their degree in Portugal prior to the signing of the final contract.
4. Submission of Applications

b) Curriculum vitae including information about research, publications, teaching and other activities deemed relevant in this search notice;
c) Selected published pieces as per section 5.1. of this notice;
d) A teaching project as per section 6.3. of this notice;

4.2. All application materials must be in Portuguese and/or in English.
4.3. No incomplete or late applications will be considered.
4.4. Failure to comply with evidence required by the search, or any false statements, will determine exclusion from consideration.
5. General Admission Criteria
5.1. Applicants must satisfy all of the following general criteria:
a) A PhD degree in Linguistics, or equivalent, or whose PhD thesis is related to this area;
b) Evidence of research in the field of this search , compatible with the rank for which the search is open, in the last 5 (five) years;
c) Authorship or coauthorship of at least 3 (three) published peer-reviewed articles in journals indexed to Scopus/SCimago or ISI-Web of Science, or book chapters in University of Lisbon tier A or B publishers (available at https://www.letras.ulisboa.pt/pt/sobre-a-flul/administracao-e-servicos/recursos-humanos/procedimentos-concursais ), relevant to the field of this search, in the last 5 (five) years, excluding work in press or accepted but not published pieces;
d) Teaching project as per section 6.3. of this notice.
5.2. Decisions on general admission are taken by majority vote.
6. Ranking Criteria
Applicants who have met the general admission criteria are then ranked according to
6.1. Curriculum assessment will focus on the following aspects, considering only those that are unequivocally associated to the area of Linguistics, preferably including Portuguese and/or Romance linguistics:
6.2. Curriculum assessment will be based on: research (60%), teaching (5%) and other relevant activities (5%), preferably having taken place within the last 5 (five) years.
6.3. The 8,000-10,000-word teaching project must include the description and syllabus for the FLUL undergraduate introductory course ‘The Study of Human Language’, explaining contents (on phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics), methods and bibliography (30%).
6.4. The aforementioned components of evaluation must be compatible with the rank and position for which the search is open.
7. Ranking of Applicants
The committee will make public a final official ranking of applicants, according to the University procedural rules.
8. Public hearings
The committee may conduct public hearings so as to clarify any element in the applications.
9. Right of Appeal
As per Portuguese law, applicants may ask the committee for a reconsideration of their decisions.
