Postdoc position in the international research project 'High Throughput Agile Interfaces for Cell Sorting '  financed by the National Science Center in the international IMPRESS-U call. Grant no.  MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• amplification of lentiviral constructs carrying recombinant multi-color variants of green fluorescent protein (GFP) derivatives for fluorescent labelling of cellular models; 
• in vitro tissue culture  and participation in the experiments with new methods of cell sorting based on the fluorescent microscopy and flow cytometry detection;
• isolation of nucleic acids from primary cell cultures;
• analysis of gene expression using Real Time-PCR and Western Blotting;
• performing gene silencing using the CRISPR/Cas9 method in prmary or immortalized  cell cultures;
• analysis of genomic, transcriptomic and metagenomic data;
• documenting, developing and visualization of research data under HIPAA regulations;
• participation in the preparation of scientific publications;
• supporting the principal investigator in supervising a PhD student participating in study;

• during the period of receiving remuneration as part of the established employment relationship it is not allowed to receive other remuneration under an employment contract with any employer (also applies to an employer based outside the territory of the Republic of Poland) or retirement benefits from the social security system,
• during the period of employment at the University of Rzeszów as part of a research project, no other salary may be received from funds awarded as direct costs of research projects funded under calls submitted by the National Science Centre;
• envisage job starting date 01.07.2024,
• employment at the Rzeszów University as the primary place of employment, 
• remuneration in accordance with the Regulations on the remuneration of employees of the University of Rzeszów and the Regulations on awarding funding for research tasks funded by the National Science Centre in the international IMPRESS-U call organised as a multilateral collaboration based on the Lead Agency Procedure;

Skills/Qualifications

• scientific achievements in the field of translational medicine, cell or molecular biology, genetic engineering and/or  microbiology, including work with stem cells and fluorescent microscopy, basic knowledge of the lentiviral approach;
• Fluency in English required for communicate with project partners and following the scientific literature.
 

Specific Requirements

• a doctoral degree in the field of medical or biological sciences that have been received at the institution different than the University of Rzeszów or alternatively, at least a 10-month long, documented continuous postdoctoral fellowship in the institution other the University of Rzeszow and in the country other than the country where the doctoral degree was obtained
• PhD degree obtained in the year of employment in the project or within 7 years before 1  January 2024 (this period may be extended by the time spent during this period on long-term (more than 90 days) documented sickness benefits or rehabilitation benefits due to inability to work. In addition, this period may be extended by the number of months of maternal leave related to the delivery and care of children in accordance with the rules laid down in the Labor Code. In the case of women applying for the position that means: extension for 18 months for each child delivered or adopted, • by 18 months for each born or adopted child, if this way of indicating breaks in a scientific career is more favorable;
• the principal investigator was not a supervisor or assistant supervisor of the doctoral dissertation of the candidate for the Post-doc position;                                                              ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• experience in in silico genomic analyses and molecular cloning;
• high motivation to conduct scientific research and the ability for team work;
• experience in the implementation of research projects, experience in implementing projects financed by the National Science Center or other grant funds is welcome.

• proof or information about the level of English proficiency,
• copies of documents confirming qualifications (doctoral diploma or certificate of conferral of a doctoral degree)
• other documents confirming achievements in scientific work listed in the open call.
 

Selection process

COMPETITION SCHEDULE:

The results of the candidate selection will be announced within 30 days from the closing date of the application process.                                                                                                IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
A necessary condition for employing a candidate selected in an open recruitment process is their meeting the requirements determined in Art.113 and Art. 118 of the Law of 20 July, 2018 on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2023, item 472 as amended), and the obligation resulting from Art.265 paragraphs 5 and 13 of the Law. 
If applying for employment at the University of Rzeszów as the primary place of employment, candidates who are employed at any other university as the primary place of employment, shall comply with the condition defined in art.120 of the Law of 20 July, 2018  on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2023, item 742 as amended) according to which an academic teacher may hold only one position at a time referenced to as the primary place of employment. 
In the case of candidates coming from abroad, whose diplomas of awarding professional tittle/academic degree/ scientific title require by Polish law an official recognition, they will not be employed until the recognition procedures have been finalized. 
Until its deadline, the recruitment process may be ceased or annulled by the Rector without giving any justification. The decision to employ a candidate is made by the Rector. In justified cases, the Rector has the right not to employ the candidate selected in the recruitment process.
