University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of Lecturer of Korean language at the Korean Section at the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies at the Faculty of Letters

Applications are invited from those who fulfil the statutory requirements specified in the Higher Education Act from 20th July 2018 (Dz. U. z 2018 r., poz. 1668) and the statutes of the University of Wroclaw.

Candidate requirements:

  • Be holders of an MA degree in Korean Studies or in a related discipline of the humanities, obtained in Poland or abroad; Korean native speakers must be university graduates and have experience in teaching Korean as a foreign language at the HEI level. In the case of foreign candidates, the regulations on the recognition of education obtained abroad apply. Diplomas obtained in countries with which Poland has not concluded bilateral agreements on the recognition of education obtained abroad as equivalent to education obtained in Poland are subject to nostrification.
  • Be proficient in the Korean language, with their command of the language confirmed by a degree in Korean Studies.
  • Have experience in teaching Korean Studies courses at a university-type HEI and an outstanding professional record as a teacher.
  • Have a sufficient command of the English language to teach classes in this language.
  • Have experience in organisational work for HEIs, including the organisation of conferences and supervision of student traineeships, documented in their work record.
  • The Selection Committee will also take into account the following additional criteria related to the didactic needs of the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies: readiness to conduct classes in practical learning of the Korean language, activity in the field of popularization of knowledge about Korea.
  • Responsibilities:

    In teaching:

  • Teaching and educating students, therein content- and methodological supervision of final course papers, term papers and thesis projects.
  • Contributing to the expanding of the Institute’s teaching offer, therein to the development of new curricula and syllabi.
  • Initiating new teaching contacts with research institution in Poland and abroad.
  • In organisation:

  • Involvement in the organisational duties related to employment at the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies, University of Wroclaw. Sustained development of professional competencies.
  • Involvement in the organization of scientific and cultural events.
