The competitive selection process is open for all individuals, who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116.2.3) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science, and who meet the following eligibility criteria according to § 165 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University:

1) Holding at least a doctoral degree;

2) Having relevant scientific achievements;

3) Taking active part in scientific life;

 

According to the funds allocation rules of the National Science Centre (NCN), only  persons  who have received  their  PhD  no  earlier  than  7 years before  the  year in  which  their employment  in the  project commences are  eligible  to  be  employed  in  the  research  projects funded by the NCN. The specified period of 7 years excludes periods of  maternity  leave,  paternity  leave,  parental  leave  in  terms  of  Polish law (i.e., ‘Kodeks  pracy,’ June 26, 1974),  or  periods  of  receiving  an allowance   maternity   benefit   or   parental   benefit,   or   periods   of prolonged sickness leave (longer than 90 days)or rehabilitation leave due to incapacity for work.

Candidates for this position must have reived their PhD degrees from an institution other  than  the  employing  body.  Candidates  who  have received  their PhD from  the  employing  body can apply  only  if they completed  a  full-time  placement  in a  foreign  institution of  a  duration longer or equal to 10 months.

Candidates  should have  no history  of prior work with  the  principal investigator, as  part  of  a  collaboration  funded through a competitive grant project.


Specific Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

•  exhibiting aptitude for research work;

•  knowledge and experience in preparation methods of biological samples for LC/MS analysis;

•  experience in metabolomics or proteomics analysis;

•  solid knowledge and documented laboratory experience in LC/MS and LC/HRMS and the ability to solve analytical problems;

•  experience in:

  • performance of analytical tests,
  • bioinformatic data analysis,
  • the design, preparation and conduct of experiments on animal models of diseases;
  • interdisciplinary analytical studies of disease pathogenesis based on animal or human models;

•  take active part in scientific life, in particular, participation in international or national scientific conferences;

•  scientific achievements documented by scientific publications, participation in research projects, and trainings;

•  fluency in spoken and written English;

•  ability and passion for research work

Eligibility criteria

The selection procedure is open for all individuals, who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116.2.3) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science, and who meet the following eligibility criteria according to § 165 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University:

The tasks of an employed person will include:

1. participation in the implementation of the Maestro 13 project: "Metabolic reprogramming in age-dependent endothelial dysfunction and vascular stiffness; novel mechanism of "inflamm-ageing"" funded by the NCN Poland

2. the main task of the post-doc will be to conduct analytical studies and participate in in vivo and ex vivo experimental studies,

3. data analysis of metabolomic results using dedicated software,

4. design, preparation and execution of experiments in the project;

5. data integration, statistical analysis, and analysis and description of research results;

6. preparation of periodic reports; scientific publications presenting research results;

7. active participation in international conferences;

8. active cooperation with the JCET team

9. taking care of the entrusted laboratory equipment.

    The course of selection procedure:

    The first stage of the selection procedure is the formal assessment of the submitted documents. Applications which meet all formal requirements are the subject of substantive assessment, during which an interview with the Candidate may be conducted (directly or via electronic communication channels), upon settling the date of the interview with the Candidate. The Candidate has the right to appeal against the negative assessment by the selection board within 7 days from receiving the information about the results of the assessment.
