RECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY announces the competition for the position of assistant professor in a group of research and teaching employees in the Department of Measurements and Control Systems at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.
Job description:
1) the competition for the position of assistant professor is open to persons who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339 as amended),
2) estimated work commencement date: 01.10.2024,
3) workplace and type of contract: Department of Measurements and Control Systems at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science, full-time employment contract,
4) period of employment: from 01.10.2024 to 30.09.2025 (with the possibility of extension).
Requirements:
1) doctoral degree in technical sciences in the discipline: automation, electronic and electrical engineering and space technologies or related discipline,
2) completion of at least two-month foreign internship or six-month domestic internship in scientific and research, industrial or local government units,
3) documented record of promoting and popularizing science, as well as achievements connected with the realisation of projects or scientific and research collaborative projects,
4) authorship or co-authorship in international scientific journals, especially at least a few publications in reputable scientific journals registered in the Scopus database. For those who obtained their doctoral degree no earlier than two years before the announcement of this competition, at least 2 such publications will be appreciated,
5) substantive participation in a research project funded by funds other than subsidy,
6) the knowledge of Polish language to an extent that allows to conduct classes or willingness to undertake independent education in the field of Polish language,
7) proficiency in English to an extent that allows to conduct classes.
Additional requirements:
1) declaration of conducting scientific research in the discipline of automation, electronic and electrical engineering and space technologies,
2) documented scientific achievements in the field of: digital signal processing, automatic control, metrology and measurement systems, mathematical modelling, numerical methods, information technology, mechanics, physics.
3) readiness to teach at least 240 hours per academic year,
4) H index according to Scopus no less than 3.
Required documents:
1) an application for employment,
2) copies of diplomas,
3) information about academic scientific, didactic and organizational achievements and information on planned further activities,
4) statement of active knowledge of English, in particular confirmations and certificates held,
5) statement of active knowledge of Polish language or willingness to undertake independent education (for the candidates for which Polish is not a native language),
6) documents confirming the fulfilment of additional requirements,
7) candidate's declaration that the Silesian University of Technology will be his/her primary place of employment.
