RECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY  announces the competition for the position of assistant professor in the group of research and teaching employees in the Department of Algorithms and Software at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.

Job description:
1) the competition for the position of assistant professor is open to persons who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339 as amended),
2) estimated work commencement date: 01.10.2024,
3) workplace and type of contract: Department of Algorithmics and Software at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science, full-time contract of employment,
4) period of employment: from 01.10.2024 to 30.09.2026 (with the possibility of extension).

Requirements:
1) PhD degree in information and communication technology,
2) completing at least a two-month foreign internship or a six-month domestic internship in scientific, research, industrial or local government units,
3) substantive participation in a research project funded by funds other than subsidy,
4) a proven track record of promoting and popularizing science, 
5) publication record in international scientific journals, especially (for the last 4 years) in digital image processing or genomic data processing encompassing at least one publication (as a first author) in a journal with a score of 200 pts. according to the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education will be an additional advantage,
6) experience in conducting teaching activities in algorithms, programming or software engineering,
7) fluency in English language to an extent that allows to conduct classes
8) fluency in Polish language to an extent that allows to conduct classes.

Additional requirements:
1) participation in national or international research or research-and-development projects,
2) international cooperation confirmed with at least one publication (in the last 4 years) in a journal with a score of at least 100 pts. according to the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education,
3) presentations at international conferences (indexed in the CORE database) in the field of image processing or genomic data processing (in the last 4 years) will be an additional advantage,
4) high programming skills in C++ and Python,
5) experience in: 
a. processing and analysis of digital images, including satellite images, in particular concerned with image super-resolution or
b. genome sequencing data analysis.

Required documents:

5) recent recommendation letter issued by at least one scientist with a habilitation degree,
