University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of assistant professor at the Protein Biotechnology Department at the Faculty of Biotechnology

Description (field, expectations, comments): the ideal candidate should be highly motivated to work as an independent scientist but also be able to collaborate with other team members.

  • Knowledge of the Polish language enabling conducting teaching courses in Polish, contacts with University administration and everyday life, knowledge about the specificity of work in Academia.
  • Knowledge of the English language to the extent allowing to conduct classes in this language.
  • Doctoral degree in biological sciences or related disciplines.
  • Distinguished academic record documented by publications (at least four experimental publications in an international journal with an IF above 5, including at least two first-author publications).
  • Experience in conducting research as a contractor of at least one high-budget research project (above PLN 1 million).
  • Experience in preparing scientific publications and developing scientific projects.
  • Scientific interests related to protein engineering, biophysical chemistry, cell biology, role of growth factors and their receptors (in particular FGF/FGFR), cell signaling, internalization, protein-protein interactions, apoptosis, cell migration, anti-apoptotic activity, protein translocation and secretion.
  • Knowledge of molecular biology methods (including cloning, mutagenesis, PCR, RTqPCR, ELISA, WB, IP), recombinant protein overproduction and purification, physico-chemical analysis of proteins (fluorescence, circular dichroism, stability measurement, protein-protein studies), cell biology methods (eukaryotic cell line culture, cell signal transduction, proliferation and apoptosis measurements, cell migration, glucose uptake, flow cytometry), fluorescence microscopy.
  • Active participation in conferences, workshops, courses and other forms of supporting scientific development.
  • Motivation to scientific work.
  • Experience in teaching and supervising doctoral and undergraduate or graduate students.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Responsibilities at the workplace:

    Research duties:

  • Conducting experiments, analysis of data, preparation of reports, participation in scientific group meetings, literature studies, preparation of scientific publications, participation in scientific conferences.
  • Teaching duties:

  • Conducting teaching courses in the field of biotechnology, protein engineering, enzymology, supervising students.
  • Organizational duties :

  • Participation in scientific meetings, seminars, preparation of scientific publications, active participation in scientific conferences, organization and participation in project promotion activities
