THE INSTITUTE OF AMERICAS AND EUROPE of the University of Warsaw on behalf of His Excellency Rector of the University of Warsaw
invites applications for the competition to fill the position of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (ADIUNKT) at the Centre for European Regional and Local Studies (EUROREG) holding a PhD

Group of employees: research and teaching; number of positions: 1, type of work: full-time, period of employment – fixed-term contract
Scientific discipline: social sciences in the field of socio-economic geography and spatial management

Only candidates who fulfil conditions defined in Art. 113 of The Act of 20th of July 2018 – the Law on Higher Education and Science (Dz.U.2023 no. 742 with later amendments) may apply.

Skills/Qualifications
  • PhD in sociology or Earth sciences within the field of socio-economic geography and spatial management;
  • knowledge of quantitative methods in interdisciplinary studies;
  • proficiency in GIS packages, including ArcGIS;
  • sound knowledge of database programming languages and the R package;
  • documented track record of publications, including authorship (or co-authorship) of at least three articles published in journals listed in the Journal Citation Reports (with an Impact Factor);
  • documented track record of publications in the field of socio-economic geography of cities and regions, with a focus on sustainable development;
  • participation as a project leader or researcher in externally funded research projects, including international ones;
  • active involvement in academic life, including presentations at national and international conferences;
  • university-level teaching experience;
  • high command of English;
  •  fluency in Polish, sufficient to teach classes in this language.

 


Specific Requirements
  • international research experience, including a minimum of a six-month stay in a foreign research organisation;
  • knowledge of qualitative methods in interdisciplinary studies;
  • experience in the implementation of research projects for public institutions and international organisations;
  • practice in the use of innovative teaching methods;

  • academic development plan;

  • curriculum vitae including summary of research achievements and list of published papers;
  • other relevant information and documents demonstrating the applicant’s interests and qualifications;

Selection process

The competition constitutes the first stage in the process of recruitment for the post of an academic teacher as defined in the Statute of the University of Warsaw, and its outcome will provide the basis for further proceedings.
