Job description

The University of Stavanger invites applicants for a postdoctoral researcher position in economics at the UiS Business School, Department of Economic and Finance. The candidate is encouraged to start in the period July-September 2024.

The objectives of the position is to strengthen research, and to give early-carrier researchers the opportunity to qualify for top academic
positions.

The postdoctoral researcher will be employed for a period of four years. The employment period includes about 25% teaching and/or supervision of students. 


The position is financed with funding from The Norwegian Research Council and NCS2030 – a National Centre for Sustainable Subsurface Utilization of the Norwegian Continental Shelf. 

The appointee is expected to be based in Stavanger and contribute to the academic community at the business school. At the same time we encourage stays at foreign research institutions.


Qualification requirements

We are seeking a candidate with a strong academic background and a PhD in economics, preferably completed recently or about to be completed, and research interests within one or several of the following areas: macroeconomics, growth, trade, industrial organization, development economics, public economics, or natural resource economics. Researchers with a background in empirical analysis are particularly encouraged to apply.

It is a prerequisite for taking up the position that the doctorate has been approved.

Successful candidates will have a good command of both oral and written English.
