Kia hiwa rā!

At Unitec/ Te Pūkenga, we're passionate about the power of education to positively change the lives of our learners, their family and wider communities. We make sure our learners are well equipped for the future needs of employers, by providing them with a mix of hands-on and classroom-based learning.

Te āheinga: The opportunity

The objective of the Tuakana role is to design and develop resources 'for ākonga by ākonga' (for students by students). Tuākana will provide the critical voice and expertise required to share their experience as a student and what they wish they had known at the start of their learner journey. Unitec kaimahi will support the Tuākana and provide the required resources to ensure Tuākana are successful in their design and delivery of the project. This is a paid position with approx. 20 hours of work over the course of 4-5 weeks, starting end of January 2023. We are looking for approx. 15 Tuākana in total.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You will be a current or recently graduated Unitec ākonga (student) who is dedicated to improving the ākonga experience and able to pass on valuable information and insights by developing Welcome Pack and other Orientation resources for new ākonga. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to actively engage in efforts to build resilience and aspirations within the ākonga community at Unitec.

Tā mātau rourou: What we offer

Joining Unitec/Te Pūkenga, you will be working within a diverse organisation that encourages forward-thinking and recognises success.   We offer a competitive salary and access to development opportunities. You'll be working within a hybrid model - with flexibility to complete hours remotely from home and also come onto our beautiful green campus in Mt Albert, to connect with other Tuākana and complete workshops and some of the project hours collaboratively with other Tuākana and kaimahi .
