COLLEGE OF EDUCATION / TE KURA AKAU TAITOKA

About us/Mō mātou

The University of Otago College of Education is dedicated to the enhancement of educational practice through high quality teaching, scholarship, research, professional leadership and community service, to benefit children, other learners, educators and the wider community (in local, national and international settings).

The role/Te mahi

Under contract to the Ministry of Education, the Curriculum Insights and Progress Study will be conducted during Term 3 of the school year in 160 randomly selected schools across Aotearoa New Zealand. This study is the successor to the National Monitoring Study of Student Achievement (NMSSA) and reflects the New Zealand Curriculum (NZC).

In 2024, there will be a one-week training programme in Wellington (22 - 26 July), followed by nine weeks of school visits.

In order to administer the programme, EARU employs teachers from across New Zealand for a ten-week period only, based on their expertise in the learning area/s for the year, as well as their suitability as outlined in the job description.

Teacher Researchers will work in pairs and depending on the area, may be required to travel away from home, for up to a week at a time (travel expenses are covered).

This year, the study will be assessing Year 3, Year 6 and Year 8 students in mathematics and science.

Teacher Researchers will be either seconded from their school for the 10-week period or employed on a fixed-term contract with the University of Otago.

Working alongside our team to implement the assessment programme is a great PLD opportunity and applications are now open for effective and committed teachers nationwide.
