Te āheinga: The opportunity

As a Timetabling Specialist, you create efficient schedules for our programs, courses, and classes. You ensure that our teaching spaces are well-utilised, and students have manageable travel time between classes.

You will be in regular communication with our academic staff, working together to find solutions to often complex scheduling problems, particularly during peak periods. Your analytical skills will be used to improve scheduling tasks at Unitec, and you will provide valuable feedback on systems and processes.

Additionally, you will be responsible for managing the quality of data and databases, ensuring that they are up-to-date and accurate. You will also maintain a comprehensive documentation of timetable processes, work practices, and procedures, to ensure that these practices are effectively implemented across the department.

This 6-month fixed-term role would end by the 13th of December 2024 as a cover for maternity leave.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You'll have:

  • An understanding or desire to learn Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori
  • Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people, including students, academic staff, senior management, support centres and external clients.
  • Excellent personal accountability and workflow management, data entry, attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Experience in a Subject Matter Experience role, i.e. supporting staff, influencing, quality assurance systems
  • The ability to compose and present correspondence of a specialist nature.
  • Experience in an administration position.
  • High degree of proficiency in Office computing applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software such as PowerPoint and email.
  • Demonstrated organisational ability that includes experience in meeting deadlines, prioritising competing demands and an ability to use initiative and work both with minimal supervision and as a member of a team
  • Excellent analytical skills and a solution-focused way of working
  • Timetabling experience from within a tertiary sector or similar
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills

Desirable

  • Experience in the Oracle suite of products, specifically PeopleSoft
