Senior Systems Engineer
Play a lead role in designing, building, implementing & maintaining IT infrastructure at Lincoln University.
Mō te tūka | The role
This position, based out of our Information Technology Services (ITS) team is to play a lead role to ensure that the platforms on which IT services are provisioned are built, configured, operated and developed in an efficient, effective and secure manner.
You will be carrying out the following tasks:
- Designing, building, implementing and maintaining IT infrastructure
- Leading and supporting change in technology and systems - including research and assisting with design of controls and processes
- Providing technical and professional support within IT Services and the wider University
- Training & mentoring of other engineers and support staff
- Investigate, design, and implement security and identity management best practices
This is a permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week based at our Lincoln campus. There will be no scheduled on-call however you may need to work outside of normal working hours from time to time to assist in project implementations or to resolve technical issues as required.
The remuneration range is set at $90,000 - $100,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Kā tino Pūkeka/Whēako | Essential skills/experience for the role
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Extensive working knowledge of security, identity and access management operating in an active directory enterprise
- Demonstrable interest in emerging technologies.
- Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Experience with the installation, maintenance and support of enterprise infrastructure (servers, Network and firewall).
- Minimum 5 years as systems engineer in enterprise environments.
Also required is advanced level experience in as many of the following as possible:
- Cloud Technologies; AWS, Azure, Private/public cloud
- Configuration and management of SaaS applications
- Enterprise capacity management
- Enterprise identity and access management
- Enterprise systems availability and performance management
- Infrastructure & Cybersecurity incident management
- Linux OS support
- Local, wide-area and wireless network management
- Microsoft Server, including AAD, SQL server, Exchange
- Office 365 including Sharepoint online
- Powershell script development
- Telephony (Teams/Skype for Business)
- Virtual environments ideally VMWare and or Nutanix
