The Role
We have a fantastic permanent full-time opportunity for a highly motivated Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with expertise across Earth System Science disciplines, to make significant impact and develop their career in teaching, research and service. We are particularly interested in applicants who would contribute to our teaching and research with expertise within one or more of following fields:
Atmospheric Science, Soil Science, Limnology, Oceanography, Cryosphere Science, Ecology and Biogeoscience, Climatology, and Geology
You'll have the exciting opportunity to make leadership contributions to the development and delivery of a new Earth System Science programme. We embrace practice-led, as well as research-informed, approaches to teaching where the student experience is optimised.
You'll teach second and third-year courses in Earth System Science as assigned by the Deputy Head of School. You will be expected to publish actively in your specialised field/s and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research. We offer an excellent research environment with contestable research funds, and with guidance available from senior scholars. It is also expected that over time the successful candidate will seek and attract external research funding, , and contribute to School/Faculty activities.

Qualification:
- A PhD in an Earth System Science discipline or a related field
Teaching and Learning:
- An early career academic will ideally have at least some previous teaching assistant experience.
- More experienced candidates will have previous tertiary lecturing experience, experience with curriculum development, programme management and also preferably experience supervising Masters and/or PhD students.
Research and Scholarship:
- Research interests should be in at least one or more of the following fields: Atmospheric Science, Soil Science, Limnology, Oceanography, Cryosphere Science, Ecology and Biogeoscience, Climatology, and Geology
- An early career academic will have the basis of a solid research pipeline.
- More experienced candidates will already have a proven research track record with quality publications and ideally also success in external funding bids.

Further Information:
- Start Date: Mid-late 2024 (to be agreed with the successful candidate).
- Term: The successful candidate will secure a permanent, full-time appointment.
- Salary ranges: Lecturer - NZD $89,007 to $105,929. Senior Lecturer - NZD $109,051 to $142,591 (specific step within ranges commensurate with relevant skills and experience).
