A Research fellow opportunity for an experienced researcher with a passion for out of hospital research. 

The Department of Paramedicine is seeking a Research fellow to join their team at AUT's South Campus in Manukau. The successful applicant will work with a team of researchers within the department's Paramedicine Research Unit (PRU) to produce research that aims to enhance the experiences of Aotearoa / New Zealand out of hospital users and their whānau. Their duties will primarily include obtaining all required clearances to undertake research, sourcing and applying for available funding opportunities, collecting, cleaning, and analysing available data, interpreting data analysis results, drawing inferences and conclusions, and presenting the results at a quality standard that allows it to be used for publication in journals, reports, and conferences. 

Applicants must hold a degree in a health-related field with equivalent research experience and have previous and demonstrated experience in:

  • Applying for necessary ethics and locality approvals to conduct research.
  • Identifying sources of funding, preparing research proposals, and submitting funding applications.
  • Collecting, recording, and analysing data.
  • Interpreting data analysis results and drawing inferences and discussing conclusions.
  • Collaborating with research teams, industry stakeholders, and government agencies.
  • Experience in integrating te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice and/or research contexts.
  • Can work autonomously and ask for support when required.
  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively.

Experience with data management and Microsoft Office software applications is essential for this role, as are excellent verbal and written communication skills. Applicants should have completed a relevant postgraduate PhD level qualification. A good understanding of tikanga Māori is essential to support staff within the bi-cultural context of Aotearoa/New Zealand.

The role is based at AUT South Campus but has the potential for work from home.

Salary Range: $74,000 - $104,000 (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)
