The AUT Research Office has an exciting opportunity for a Research Engagement Manager - Māori. This role will support our researchers to engage more effectively with te Reo Māori me ngā Tikanga, and with Māori world views and aspirations. It will enhance AUT's capability and capacity to create impact from our research with and for Māori and assist in uplifting our Māori research staff.

The successful candidate will focus on Māori research engagement associated with external research relationships and external research funding proposals. Ideally, the incumbent will have research engagement experience and be familiar with the research environment and ecosystem in New Zealand. Knowledge and experience of Tikanga Māori (Māori custom), mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) and Te Ao Māori (Māori world view) and Te Tiriti o Waitangi will be required, as well as proficiency in te Reo Māori. You will have established networks among Māori research stakeholders and communities and be comfortable working between researchers and groups with an interest in their research. You will have a postgraduate research degree or experience working in a similar role in the education, government or not-for-profit sector.

The Research Engagement Manager - Māori needs to be a great team player, have effective oral and written communication skills and be comfortable with mentoring and coaching others with different knowledge and cultural backgrounds. The ability to also work professionally and effectively with Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti at all levels and positions within and outside of AUT is essential in this role, requiring diplomacy and tack, and suiting a mature and seasoned professional.

Salary Range: $111,000 - $123,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
