The role/Te mahi

This is an amazing opportunity for a Project Manager of Organisational Delivery. Working in the stunning city of Christchurch for an iconic New Zealand institution ranked in the top 1% of universities in the world, your role will be to work closely with the Project Owner and Campus Development Project Director and Project Manager to ensure that the Faculty’s needs are well understood by the project team and ensuring the planning and delivery of Operational Commissioning for the new facility.

This is a key position for the successful delivery of this key-note building for the University of Otago and you will be instrumental in shaping the project and the operation of the building, ensuring a smooth transition from construction to occupation.

We are looking for candidates with excellent Project Management Skills, ideally with an in depth knowledge of department and divisional operations within the University. 

Candidates will be have a proven track record of planning and effectively managing a wide range of tasks simultaneously and with close attention to detail.  

Excellent communication skills and a service-oriented approach are essential.

The University of Otago is New Zealand’s oldest University with a strong teaching and research tradition and well-established national and international linkages. It is one of New Zealand’s largest universities, with campuses in Dunedin, Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland, and Invercargill.

The Property & Campus Development Division is responsible for the University’s built environment.  Meeting the changing space needs of over 4,000 staff and 20,000 students is a complex 3D puzzle!

As outlined in the University’s strategic document Pae Tata, a strategic and responsive approach to campus planning is needed in order to deliver what our communities need while achieving greater space utilisation efficiency.

This is a full time (37.5 hours), fixed term position (until June 2026), located in Christchurch.

The appointments range for this role is $90,165 to $98,515, Top of Range $106,863, remuneration is negotiable for the right candidate.
