The Project

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has awarded an Endeavour Research Program to the University of Otago and partner organisations.

Led by Professor Tobias Langlotz (Principal Investigator, School of Computing), this interdisciplinary project will research and enable new forms of physical (in-person) and virtual (immersive) tourism by creating augmented and extended visitor experiences that are universal and accessible.

It will explore how to augment the tourism experience of physical travel to Aotearoa digitally and to enable virtual travel to and within Aotearoa.

The role

We are seeking a dynamic Programme Manager to join our research team.  You will work closely with the Principal Investigator and wider research team providing leadership and coordination to achieve the projects vision through fostering a culture of collaboration across all stakeholders.

You will be responsible for:
•    Managing milestones and providing reporting to funders.
•    Identifying new opportunities and partnerships through the management of outreach programmes and community engagements (“Science Cafés”).
•    Managing the marketing and communications for the research programme, presenting its goals and achievements through different forms of media.

Your skills and experience

This position would suit someone who has:
•    A demonstrated understanding of the New Zealand funding systems.
•    Significant experience in operations management or significant administrative role.
•    Strong track record of delivering organisational goals to specific targets.
•    the ability to bring individuals with diverse perspectives and backgrounds together.
•    effective facilitation and chairing skills for multidisciplinary and diverse science and stakeholder engagement meetings.
•    Ability to build and influence strong relationships.
•    Market knowledge and strategic perspective.

You will be an effective communicator with the ability to interact tactfully and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals. Responsiveness, ability to thrive in a busy environment and proactive attitude are essential.

Further details

This Dunedin based position is part-time 22.5 hours per week, there is some flexibility required as at certain points in the project you could work up to full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

This role commences as soon as possible for a fixed term period of five years (there is some flexibility to accommodate for a candidate’s circumstances).

The appointment range for this position is $70,602 to $76,668 per annum, top of range $82,849 per annum.
