Position Overview

Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University is internationally recognised as a leading international institution in the teaching and research of Dairy Science & Technology in the discipline areas of food technology, chemistry, ecology, microbiology, molecular and cellular biology, and zoology.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity 

Our School of Food Technology and Natural Sciences is inviting applications from internationally oriented Professors in Dairy Science and Technology who have a strong interdisciplinary research record capable of leading the development and delivery of courses and qualifications incorporating dairy science and technology. In particular, the Master of Dairy Science and Technology, Graduate Diploma in Dairy Science and Technology, and the Diploma in Dairy Science and Technology in collaboration with Jiangnan University, Wuxi, China.  

We welcome applications with expertise across the fields of dairy chemistry, product formulation, characterisation, and ingredient functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver an effective program of teaching, research, and publication in Dairy Science and Technology.
  • Supervise post-graduate research projects, fostering academic growth and excellence.
  • Engage in enterprise activities and pursue external funding opportunities to support research initiatives.
  • Provide administrative and professional service to the University and broader academic communities.
  • Offer academic leadership within the School, College, University, and wider discipline.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • A substantial track record in developing and delivering dairy science and technology discoveries across academia, research organizations, and/or industry.
  • Deep understanding of trends, challenges, and opportunities in dairy science and technology within both the New Zealand and international contexts.
  • Recognized as a thought leader nationally and internationally in the field of Dairy Science and Technology.
  • Proven experience working with industry to provide solutions to industry needs.
  • Relevant PhD (or equivalent) or another post-graduate qualification.
  • Demonstrated teaching and research experience in a university or tertiary teaching environment.
  • Experienced in the use of electronic and online technologies in blended and distance teaching delivery.
  • Internationally recognized leader in research and publication in dairy science and technology.

Additional Information:

While the position is based at the Manawatū campus, there will be opportunities for offshore teaching at Jiangnan University, Wuxi, China, and the Singapore Institute of Technology, Singapore.
