Te Ipukarea Research Institute is looking to appoint a full-time* postdoctoral fellow for three years. The postdoctoral fellow involves researching topical aspects of Māori (or another Te Moana Nui) language and/or culture, and related areas of study, for example, language revitalisation, Indigenous education, Indigenous youth, Indigenous knowledge, etc. The purpose of the position is to grow the research capabilities of Te Ipukarea, further develop the research culture of the Institute, and offer the opportunity for an early career researcher to work alongside leading academics within Te Ipukarea. Ideally, applicants for the role will meet the following selection requirements:
Selection Requirements
- Research activity of the postdoc as judged by the PBRF criteria.
- Ph.D. with a track record of publications (applicants should be within five years of completing their doctoral degree).
- Proven, or demonstrated excellent potential for, an outstanding publication record.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Demonstrated high-level analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to deliver high-quality project outcomes promptly.
- Understanding of equity and diversity principles.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
The successful applicant will be appointed a supervisor from within Te Ipukarea and expected to maintain a high-quality research program during the fellowship period. Annual reports will be required to demonstrate their contribution and outputs achieved.
Terms and Conditions:
- Three-year fixed-term appointment.
- Starting date: 4th March 2024.
