Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll manager to join our People and Culture team on a two-year fixed-term contract. This position will provide continued support and leadership to the payroll team and payroll functions within the University of Canterbury (UC) while the current incumbent undertakes a two-year project role.
This is a critical role, and you will be responsible for:
- the timely delivery of a large and complex payroll (approx. 4,000 staff paid per fortnight)
- leading the reporting and Peoplesoft payroll system administration
- team workflow allocation and provision of subject matter expertise
- advice regarding complex payroll queries including ACC, superannuation schemes, payday filing
- ad-hoc support to payroll projects, as well as providing other support, advice and potential implementation of other opportunities for improvement to payroll systems and processes.
Mōu | Who You Are
You are a seasoned payroll or finance professional who has significant experience in large, complex organisations with multiple employment agreements. You will be comfortable working independently and taking accountability for leading the payroll team. You are a critical point of contact for advice both within the People and Culture team and also wider UC. You will be process oriented, analytical and have excellent attention to detail.
You will also:
- Be a New Zealand payroll tax expert
- Have a proven track record in leading and developing teams
- Enjoy identifying complex issues and developing effective solutions
- Be able to quickly build meaningful and effective relationships with stakeholders
- Have an alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
