SCHOOL OF GEOGRAPHY (TE IHO WHENUA) UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO About us/Mō mātou The School of Geography (Te Iho Whenua) at the University of Otago is nationally and internationally recognised for the quality of our graduates and the impact of our research. The School supports graduate and postgraduate programmes in Physical and Human Geography and Environmental Management, as well as Planning and International Development. Sustainability is an important research focus in the School, and the School hosts and supports the Centre for Sustainability. We mentor students who conduct excellent Honours, Masters, and PhD research. Our aim is to deliver globally relevant teaching and research from our unique location in Aotearoa New Zealand. The role/Te mahi We seek a new, full-time, permanent academic colleague with expertise in Physical Geography, to appoint as either a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. In this role, you will be expected to lead and contribute to learning, teaching and supervision, research, and enterprise, as well as academic citizenship activities in the School and University. You will have a PhD in Physical Geography, ideally with a focus in hydrology or biogeography. The ability to contribute to teaching in geostatistics and geographic information systems would be desirable. In addition to an ability to contribute to curriculum development and delivery, a strong publication track record is expected. Depending on appointment level, experience of securing competitive grant funding and successful postgraduate research supervision would be advantageous. You will be responsible for: • Teaching physical geography in undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
